Hi, CK. I had an unusual chemo analogy come to mind today on the drive home from a community college class.

Chemo, specifically with the nausea and the malnutrition and the out-of-nowhere vomiting, reminds me of filling up a car at the gas station. Imagine having a car where the gas tank's needle no longer works and the E light never goes on. Imagine that every time you fill up, you know there's a pretty likely chance that you'll be driving along and the hood will suddenly pop open while your car spews gasoline all over the place while you're traveling at 65 mph on the interstate during rush hour. For as annoying and scary as that is, after a few tanks of gas and a few months of driving, it dawns on you that you don't really KNOW anymore how close to E you really are. You DO know that if you fill it all the way up to F, it only makes it more likely that you'll be seeing that gas spew out all over the highway before you even get back home.

Yeah, that's chemo. Months of being unable to know or control when your car will spew an entire tank of perfectly good gasoline back out. Months of wondering how much (if any) gas is actually IN that tank anymore, because every time you fill 'er up, it means practically nothing. Four food groups? Vitamins and minerals? Pfffft. You learn to consider yourself fortunate whenever you can occasionally keep ANYthing down.

It's like upon being diagnosed, you turn around and see your own body stab you in the back. During months of normal, average chemo, you often turn around and STILL see your own body stabbing you over and over again in the back.

I'm not sure what triggered THIS up from my past, either. Go figure, huh?

OK. So, I would really like to do an art trade with you, but to do that I guess we have to determine what each person wants and the value of each piece, right? I've only done two other art trades and we basically traded each other pieces that equaled each other in the prices we'd sell them for.
I would really love some glass beads to incorporate into my maille. Even just for myself! What did you have in mind?
